Biography
Dr. Patricia Walker-Swinton — known to her audiences as Dr. Pat, and also known professionally as Patricia Swinton — is a speaker, author, educator, Dyslexia Specialist, and educational systems innovator. She holds a BS in Biology, an MA in Professional & Technical Writing, and an Executive Ph.D. in Urban Higher Education, and has been working in and alongside education systems since 2009.
She is a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. She is also a dance high school coach. She has sat inside frozen rooms herself — and she has spent years helping others name the ones they've been living in.
The Frozen Room™ Theory was not born in a conference room. It was born from lived experience — from watching people, students, and institutions reduce human beings to a record, a label, a rumor, or a single season. It was born from the question: what does it take to actually move forward when the narrative that follows you is not the one you would have written?
Dr. Pat's work sits at the intersection of human identity, healing, and institutional change. She speaks to educators, organizational leaders, women, and communities on narrative recovery, student labels, collective efficacy, and the T.H.A.W. framework. She designs and deploys scalable digital learning systems across K–12 and higher education institutions, and partners with presidents, provosts, and superintendents on technology-enabled student success strategies supporting 500+ learners. She is the creator of the Attendance Protocol Stack™ — a 72-hour attendance response system built for K-12 and higher education institutions under the philosophy of Attendance as Infrastructure™.
She is not interested in revenge. She is not interested in retaliation. She is interested in what happens when people stop justifying their frozen state — and start walking toward the next room.

On The Work
"I did not create The Frozen Room™ to explain what happened to me. I created it to give people language for what happened to them."— Dr. Pat
The Frozen Room™ Theory is a framework for understanding how people — individuals, students, communities, organizations — become trapped inside narratives assigned by others. It identifies the Four Walls of a Frozen Room, names the cost of staying inside them, and offers a structured path through the T.H.A.W. process toward what Dr. Pat calls the Next Room.
